“Proper Cleaning and Repair of Historic Gravestones” with David Bloom (10/2/25)
The October 2nd meeting of the Honeoye Falls – Town of Mendon Historical Society will feature David Bloom, whose topic will be “Proper Cleaning and Repair of Historic Gravestones”
The presentation will focus of cemetery conservator approved methods of cleaning and repairing of old gravestones. It is equally important to learn what frequently used chemicals and methods cause long term damage to old gravestones.
David retired in 2015 from Finger Lakes Community College. He took up genealogy, which led to learning proper gravestone cleaning. Working with gravestones eventually evolved into proper repair. He now works with historical societies, town historians, and cemetery associations, voluntarily repairing old gravestones, and sharing his knowledge and 8 years of experience with others.
The meeting will begin at 7:30pm on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Mendon Community Center, 167 North Main Street in Honeoye Falls. This facility is handicapped accessible. The meeting is open to the public.
